Winifred Burkle once told me, after a sinful amount of chinese food and in lieu of absolutely nothing - ‘I think a lot of people would choose to be green. Your shade, if they had the choice’

A thousand years in the future, two archeologists, Zack and Lana, theorize about the life of Spider-Man and his closest associates. Their off-the-mark speculation is mostly an excuse for a string of meta-jokes about Spider-Man fandom, but there’s still an “ouch” moment as their assumptions about Mary Jane’s glamorous lifestyle is contrasted with her fears for Peter in the present.

LANA: You know who I often think about? His wife!
ZACK: Ahhh, yes… the lovely Mary Jane Parker! I believe I have a classic holoscan from her modeling days, and — here we go!
LANA: Sh-she’s absolutely breath-taking! Whatever happened to her, anyway?
ZACK: Depends on the historian! Some claim they divorced. Others say she was murdered by one of his enemies. Me, I prefer the accounts which have them living happily ever after.
ZACK: I seem to remember that one author even referred to Mrs. Parker as the First Lady of the Heroic Age.
LANA: An interesting choice — but I probably would have awarded the title to Susan Richards or Janet van Dyne.
LANA: Still, when you consider Spider-Man’s stature in the super hero community, they must have thrown some very colorful parties!
LANA: One thing’s for certain — Mary Jane must have been the envy of all her friends!
